GIZMO

Gizmo is married to someone with a truly world-class ability to lose important things. Keys, mobile phones, handbags – even small children sometimes. So he will soon be buying her the Loc8tor Lite, a handy gizmo from Britain.

This device helps you find lost things (although not small children, unless you have fitted them with some sort of homing device). It’s a small black rubbery device like a credit card which allows you to locate four different objects at distances of up to 400 feet, according to the manufacturer. The web site, www. Loc8tor.co.uk, gives you some sense of the witlessness of its clientele when it advises it can be used to find “even the car”.

It comes with tags (two when you buy it, though you can get more) which you can attach to pretty much anything. It sells online for £49.99. You can’t avoid the obvious fear, though: losing the gizmo.
